1. Harry was born in 1951
Harry Perry turned 70 in 2021. He was born on 19th May, 1951 in Washington DC, United States. He had moved to Detroit, Michigan at an early age. Although little to nothing is known about his early days, it is still fascinating to note that he has had a vibrant journey even before turning 20. His career has been a tale that will be told throughout the ages or as long as the people of his era continue to live on.
2. He began performing on the Venice Boardwalk in 1973
Harry’s musical journey started at 19 years of age. That is when he first set foot in Los Angeles, California. He auditioned to produce the musical ‘Hair’. He was performing in West Hollywood alongside Meatloaf, a famous musician from the era. According to him, he was performing at the Rainbow parking lot when his friend convinced him to travel with him to the beach.
After a lot of discussion, he finally boarded a bus to the beach on Venice Beach. He was pleasantly surprised to find such a fun, crowded space in the city. He began playing with his friend on the guitar. He recounts that day in his own words; “In 1974, when people gave you two bucks they were giving you real money. My girlfriend worked at Macy’s and with commissions she only made $100 a week. A week! We came down here and at the end of the day made $100.”
That is when he started and then there was no turning back for him.
3. His iconic turban-clad look has become a familiar site at Venice beach
Harry Perry’s full name is Harold Arthur Perry. He has performed wearing a Sikh-style turban on his head. His iconic look has become so famous and recognizable that he is now also known as Har Nar Singh Khalsa which is his Sikh name. Kama Kosmic Krusader is the name he uses on stag. His look is something that resonates with the locals and allows him to draw large crowds as he performs some of his iconic numbers.
4. He has featured in a Red Hot Chili Peppers music video
Over the years, Harry has had a number of notable Hollywood appearances. From documentaries to music videos, he has had it all. The most high-level appearance that he has made was in the music video by Red Hot Chili Peppers in their song “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie.” The video has more than 177 million views on YouTube in 2021.

Harry performed alongside the Blue Man Group on 6th and 7th September in a recreation of Ravel’s Bolero. The Los Angeles City Council brought out an ordinance that banned public performances on Venice Beach Boardwalk at the start of the year 1990.
